About Me

When Life Gives You Scraps, Make a Quilt

My name is Dawn Splattstoesser and my husband Jeff and I have been married (a long time).  We were high school sweethearts.

We have 3 beautiful daughters who have blessed us with 5 grandchildren so far.

I recently retired from my nursing profession to help take care of grandchildren.

My Quilting Story

In 2019, a couple girls that I worked with asked me if I wanted to join them in making a mystery quilt.  They knew I liked to "dabble" with my sewing machine.  Having never quilted before, I reluctantly said sure.  By the end of piecing the quilt together, I was hooked!

From there I pieced many quilts and always took them to a local material shop to be quilted and was always so fascinated watching the long arm.

In 2023, I purchased my own long arm and get so much joy out of it.  It's my time to think about others and even pray for them.  It's amazing what comes into my mind behind my machine.   I started quilting for friends and family and recently decided to start a long arm quilting business.

To me, all quilts are a work of art.  The quilt top or patchwork is a masterpiece, meaning that it is unique, and one of a kind.  People put a lot of love, hours, sweat and sometimes even tears into their creations.  To me, it is important to preserve these treasures so that they can be a legacy, as they are often handed down from generation to generation.  I am committed to treating your patchwork with the upmost respect that it deserves.
